2010 MSBL/MABL Draft Information
The 2010 Lehigh Valley MSBL League draft will be sponsored by Lehigh Valley Baseball Academy. The faciilty
will open it's doors exclusively for our draft allowing us to use the entire facility for the draft. Players will have the oppotunity to field, throw, pitch and bat. Players of all levels are welcome.
The Lehigh Valley
MSBL Player Draft is held annually in early spring.
The Teams take turns selecting players in reverse order of their
win-loss records
at the close of the previous regular season.
The Lehigh Valley MSBL Board of Directors govern which players
are eligible for selection in the Draft. Basic eligibility criteria
can be described as follows:
18 Years of age (Copy
of Photo ID Required)
Before playing, All draft attendees must sign a league waiver
to be eligible to be drafted.
Legal Resident in the United States
Not on an existing Lehigh Valley MSBL/MABL Roster for the current season
A Team generally retains the rights to sign a selected player until
the start of the next season.
A player who is drafted and does not sign with the Team that selected
him may be drafted again at a future year's Draft, so long as the player is eligible for that year's
Draft. A Team may not select a player again in a subsequent year, unless the player has consented to the re-selection..
This description is a general one and the Board of Directors
themselves, not this summary, govern eligibility and draft issues.
If a player is drafted at the official league
draft and the player opts not to participate before first game
of season is played, the drafting team will then be allowed to
select a player from the league’s official waiting list prior
to first game. There will not be compensation to the drafting team
if the player
withdrawing happens to be a substantially high draft choice.
The player who chose not to participate would then be ineligible
until the following
year.
As a new player, what
you can expect on draft day:
All Players must
sign a Liability Waiverprior to any
workout or tryouts.
The minimum age to join this league is 18.
Players must have a valid driver’s
license or birth certificate with them for proof of
age.
Players, who are drafted, must pay the league registration fee of $80.
A quick trip to the plate to
face live pitching (about 7-10 swings depending on turn out).
Fielding. If you
are a pitcher, you will be permitted to throw to a catcher
only in designated areas.
All players who attend should expect to be placed on a team. If many
players are available a new team may be created.
Teams who are present will select players in order specified by the league. Players who
attend the draft must play for the entire season on the draft team.
